It's amazing how much more stuff you get if you cut the time investment 25-33% per run. I like getting more stuff.
@IceFiftyFive: All the incentives point towards keeping good ideas quiet. Better prices on reselling your drops and less chance of a nerf. I'm all for an accomplishments based system for loot that provides incentives to swap knowledge, but we'd have to get the developer on board before I will switch my strategy.

The fact that you have to (intensively?) micro-manage a hero (not feasible for most casual players) and aggro the enemies so that the raptor you originally casted MoP on was adjacent to the Boss is not worth the time and effort. The random elite tome chance does not make up for all the extra work put into killing 1 more guy (plus the 1.75s detracted per run from casting)
If you're going for reputation points that's a whole different story, but this thread was created to compare raptors & keg framing drop-rates of Event Items exclusively =)
tl;dr - Most people shouldn't worry about killing the boss.

ANother exciting thing about keg farming was that you could get a sin to leg survivor in 10h with it.

A proper warrior build can kill the nestlings, boss and sometimes the raptors outside as well in hard mode.

Do you have a build that can do this? Please show it! I want more claws of the broodmother and UW/FoW Scrolls!

For raptors (no boss) you can just do it in normal mode for the same drops. Any/warrior can run hundred blades and whirlwind attack. Not much of a reason to do it in hm besides tomes.
I farmed like 6 cupcake stacks with a p/w normal raptor farmer last event.

It's actually more effective to run it in HM, as the raptors will not break when you take an IMS - they will ball up faster as well.

Warrior 100 LOLz/MOP (optional para runner) raptor farming has been the best farm method for 6+ months, given event items (all 33-34 raptors dead as soon as you get there, sub 1 min runs). UW/FoW might be better, if you like luck and wasting 1k per run/scrolls...

Wrong.

every 8.5 raptors drop an event item, and every 4 vaettir used to drop an event item

Corrected.

If you have a good guild / allies to go with, any team farm will always be better than a solo farm... but not for event item drops exclusively.
Doing DoA will net you 60k+ / hr, which could be turned into 2+ stacks of event items, but that's not the point.

Hmm, surprising, I guess possible if you can ball all 60 at once. When I kegged, I was usually getting 3 minute runs, but certainly could have dropped it to 2-2:30 or so using better run skills/cons...

Statistical noise, or more likely, a bad implementation of in-game fcn(rnd()) - computer number generators tend to follow patterns/strings, rather than true randomness...

Something not quite right there with that every 4th vaettir drop. When I kegged back in the day, I'd see around 6 event items a run, with high runs netting 10-12. I didn't see 15 drops per run on average, that's for sure!!!
By your own calculations, you got 3 stacks in 2 hours on a 90 second run.
2*60*60/90=80 total runs.
3*250=750 items
750/80=9.4 per run (this seems possible drop rate over 80 runs)
60/9.4=item drop every 6.4 vaettir.
EDIT:

What do you mean here? That they nerfed the drop rate? Or that you can't keg them anymore? Because I believe there's still some ele/mes build(s) that can do them, albeit slower I'd reckon...

Lawl, I was being sarcastic. The claws are worthless which is why I see no point in taking an extra 10 seconds to kill a boss with worthless items.

How do are you able to get all of your items? If I get the boss group and they drop enough stuff I cant get them all before she kills me.

It's actually 60s~ with shadow of haste. Keep in mind you only ball the 36 in the right group, not the 24 in the other as well.

Yeah, something learned in my high-school programming, probably didn't truely randomize anything =0

I got about 7-10 event item drops when I bombed the group of 36, works out to about every 5-3.6 vaettir.

It wasn't a 90s run, it was about 85, those extra seconds are crucial in your calculations, so that increases the total amount of runs done.
Not sure, but I'm thinking you messed up a calculation here.... gotta go do an exam though (at school on spare atm), so I'll look at this a bit more thoroughly when I get home ;p

You can't keg them, but I'm pretty sure the drop rate is the same, the E/Me build takes longer, but again, if you can maximize your units of time per event item farmed, then it is worth it to keep killing them with an E/Me rather than go Hundred Blades-farm Raptors.

After you use the attack and they all die, you should quickly follow up with signet of stamina. That should give you enough time to pick the good items up. (golds, black/white dyes, event items, etc) If need be try a high health set and switch to it after killing the group.
